Trophy/Award
Placement Divisions

New
Placement Divisions?
Yes...
We implemented a new system for our award
placements, AND we are confident that after each of
you tries
this
out... you will never want to do a show without it!
This "new"
system was used at the last three mini shows held at Hooters
and
Twin
Peaks over the last 14 months. Its usage resulted in no
complaints
over
all three of the shows combined!
As of
July 2009... this new
system for dividing the awards between the different types of
entries will
be permanent. The example at the bottom of the page
will
allow a
clearer understanding of this all works. Its actually much simpler than
it
sounds. AS AN ENTRY IT IS CRITICAL THAT YOU UNDERSTAND THE AWARDS
SYSTEM
DESCRIBED BELOW. Everything will be clear i9f you look at the awards
example towards the bottom of this page. There are several
avantages to
this system:
[a]
it's fair
[b]
it means we will always have trophies for any type of
entry that shows up on the day of the show.
[c]
it's possible to have more than 1 Bracket One trophy
[First Place size award] per type of entry. It all depends on how many
entries
of that type came and what they scored.
[d]
this system also allows to keep our "entry
fees" the same despite the rising costs of trophies.

What
is
the same?
The
entry fee is still
the same. You still
get 2
armbands with each
entry.
There are still
trophies for all types of Domestics, Imports, Low Riders, Motorcycles,
Trucks,
and all
the rest of the "food groups". The Entry forms and
Score sheets are still
the same. . And we still
have
three different trophy sizes!

What
is
different?
There
are two main
differences that
will be noticed quickly. One is that categoris will not be
listed
before
the event because there will be awards for all categories of entries!
Catgories
and the number of awards available for each category will be detrmined
on the
day of the event based on the various percentages of entries that came
within each major
division of categories [Truck, Import, Domestic, Hot Rod, and
motorcycle]. Then
we will break it down again regarding for example.... the type of
Import entry
it was... Supra, Nissan, etc.. Each entry grop wil
have a
certain
number of trophies alotted to it based on its overall percentage of the
total
entries that came in that day. The other noticeable difference
are
the
"terms" used. The main "terms" are listed and
defined below.
1.
The large trophies that used to be called First Place
trophies are now called Bracket
One
trophies.
2.
What were called Second Place trophies are now
called Bracket
Two trophies.
3.
Third Place trophies are now called Bracket
Three trophies.
4. Points
Range
is the range of points in which a particular Bracket of
trophy is
awarded in. The Point Range may
vary a
slight bit
[5-10
points] between shows for various reasons [ pre-registrations figures
were off,
etc.] the point range for each backet of trophies is 40 points. Here is
the the
Point Range for ALL FUTURE
Mean Streets shows:
BRACKET
ONE = 210-250 POINTS
BRACKET
TWO = 170-209 POINTS
BRACKET
THREE = 130-169 POINTS
5.
Alotted
Group
is used in a similar fashion as some of the terms for
categories that
we used before; but now they are used in a much broader
range.
This also
means that each particular Alotted
Group
or Category
could possibly have more than one Bracket One Trophy within it as ong
as it
gets the points to recieve and
the trophy does not go
past the
alooted ecentage of trophys allowed for the Category or
Alotted
Group.
6.
Award
Ratio
- This means how many
trophies
are given out in relation to how
many entries
that registered to
compete. Mean Streets will always strive for a 1 to 2 award ratio.
Meaning if
there are 100 registered entries that we aim at giving out 50
trophies
so that 1 out of every 2 entries wins an award.
This keeps the
competiton REAL.
Somebody has to lose or it means nothing to win! Of
course... we must take an educated guess based on our pre-entries and
the prior show's entries when we order our troiphies. So..
if
we do not
order enough... its because somebody out there did not pre register or
they did not attend our last show.

Here
is an example of
hypothetical car show contest that will make all of this come together
simpy
for you!
This is
how it works....For our example we will use 200 entries with 40 of them
being
Imports, and then the example entry being a Honda.
1.
We determine how many entries we have; and divide it by 2
= how may awards we give out. So 200 divided by 2 = 100 awards for our
"model" example.
2.
Our first Alotted Group we are discerning is Imports; and
they had 40 entries; so 40% [or 40 trophies]of the 100
trophies can be
given out will be "alotted' towards being won by Import
entries.
3.
Now lets look say that out of the 40 Import entries that
8 of them were Hondas. Thats 20%. So 20% [or up to 8] of the available
40
Import trophies could be allotted to Honda entries if
they were to score high enough to deserve one by reaching into the
proper
"points range".
4.
Then we take the scores of that Alotted Group
[Imports/Honda] and push them next to the Points Range to determine who
won
what size trophy! Keep in mind
there can be no more than a total of
8
trophies alotted towards Honda entries. Also keep in mind
that
out of 8
possible awards that maybe only 6 of the Honda entries scored high
enough to
deserve a trophy by hitting the required scores in the different awards
bracket
points requirements.
For
our Model
Example... lets say [just for our example] that out of 8 Import/Honda
entries
only 6 scored above 129 points. These 6 winning
scores were:
212= wins bracket one trophy
196=
wins bracket two trophy
188= wins bracket two trophy
169=
wins bracket three trophy
156= wins bracket three trophy
136= wins bracket three trophy
Special
Thanks to ALL
